Fence brackets are the connectors that hold fence systems together — joining rails to posts, panels to walls, and sections to each other. This guide explains the main types and their applications.
What Are Fence Brackets?
Fence brackets are structural connectors used to join the components of a fence system together. They are the hardware that holds rails to posts, panels to walls, and fence sections to each other. Without brackets, fence panels and rails would have no secure connection to the posts and structure that support them.
In steel fence construction, brackets are typically made from cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel with a corrosion-resistant finish. They are available in dozens of configurations to suit different fence designs, post sizes, and installation requirements.
Main Uses of Fence Brackets
1. Rail-to-Post Connection
The most common use. Post brackets (also called rail brackets or tube brackets) clamp or bolt around a square or round post and provide a flat face to which the horizontal rail is welded or bolted. This is the primary structural connection in any steel fence system.
2. Wall or Masonry Mounting
Wall brackets allow fence rails or panels to be attached directly to a brick wall, concrete wall, or other masonry surface. They typically have a flat back plate with anchor bolt holes and a protruding arm that supports the rail.
3. Corner and Angle Connections
Angle brackets are used where the fence changes direction — at corners, returns, or where the fence meets a wall at an angle. They allow the fence line to turn without requiring a corner post.
4. Post Caps
Post caps fit over the top of hollow square or round posts to prevent water from entering the post and causing internal corrosion. They also provide a finished appearance. Post caps are available in flat, pyramid, ball, and decorative styles.

| Angle bracket | Corner or direction change | Various |
| Flat bracket | Straight-line joint reinforcement | Various |
| Post cap | Protects hollow post top | 40×40, 50×50, 65×65 mm |
| Adjustable bracket | Allows angle variation for slopes | 40×40, 50×50 mm |
